Display type
It is important to know what purpose does the projector serves. For instance, data projectors work well with displaying PowerPoint, spreadsheets and PDFs whereas home theatres projectors are ideal for displaying videos. This kind of projectors usually works well with photos too since videos and photos bear some similarities.
Portability
How often will you carry the projector around? In this case, the dimension of the projector regarding its size and weight is important. Simply put, will you be carrying the projector around for business presentations or will you be installing it permanently? Will you be bringing the projector to a friend’s party?

Contrast Ratio
Contrast Ratio is the ratio between the brightest brightness and the darkest area a projector can produce. Contrast is what makes it possible for us to see the subtle shades of colors. The higher the contrast ratio, the more details are visible. However, do not put too much weight on this aspect when considering buying a projector. Contrast is fragile as it takes only a small amount room light to drop the contrast drastically. Regardless whether the projector has 10000:1 or 1000:1 contrast; turn on a light and one can barely tell the difference.
Connectivity
Basically, at the time of this writing, there are three kinds of connectors competing for a slot on your laptop – VGA, DVI and HDMI. VGA being the oldest among the three is still quite popular in gadgets. However, still, the main thing is to check out what kind of connectors that your device has so that you would not need to spend unnecessarily to buy another extension in case that your projector relies on a different connection.
For video sources, HDMI is the popular choice, assuming that your laptop or device has HDMI connectors. Mobile High-Definition Link-enabled HDMI ports / adapter are also available nowadays which allows you to project from an Android Devices such as Samsung Galaxy S3, and in some cases, charge them as well.
Projector models such as EPSON’s also came up with Quick Wireless Connect device that allows wireless connection as is especially useful in business meetings where multiple laptops take turns to be used for presentations.
